Tithe

What is tithing? Tithe means 10% or "a tenth part". God's Word tells us that the first 10% of everything we earn or receive belongs to Him. The only way God's work will be done on this earth is if God's people give of their finances. Certainly, the world isn't going to finance the God's kingdom. It's the responsibility of the church and God's people.

Malachi 3:8-10 " Will a man rob God? yet ye rob me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse: for you have robbed me, even this whole nation. Bring you all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in my house, and prove me now herewith, said the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it."

What's the difference between the "Tithe" and "Offerings"? The tithe is to be the first 10% of everything you receive financially. An offering is any amount you would give above your tithe.

  • The Bible validates that God wants us to have a heart that is passionate about kingdom matters. Colossians 3:23 - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

  • Of all the motives of giving, giving with a heart of love for God is the highest and most sacred motivation.

  • We cultivate an affection for God through the knowledge of His love and mercy for us.

  • The Definition of Giving with a Heart Focused Towards Excellence - is giving from a mental disposition of love and intensive emotional attachment for God and His future Kingdom! The pursuit of giving with promptness and excitement! Colossians 3:2 - "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

  • The affectionate giver God desires: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 - Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."

  • Seed to the Sower.

  • Money Cometh: 2 Kings 12:4 (NIV)

  • "Joash said to the priests, 'Collect all the money that is brought as sacred offerings to the temple of the Lord

  • - the money collected in the census, the money received from personal vows and the money brought voluntarily

  • to the temple'."

Sunday Offering

If you prefer a more traditional way to give, we designate time each Sunday during worship to receive an offering.  This is an important part of the service because the Bible teaches that giving is one of the many acts of worship—it further contributes to the atmosphere of worship in the service.
